A woman in Texas was charged by an ER after waiting 19 hours, but she never saw a doctor. Redbook has a list of health habits that are "OK to skip". Or are they? You'll have to decide for yourself.
5 Health Habits It's Okay To Skip
An article in Redbook magazine says there are some long preached health habits that you really don't have to listen two. Of course, in the comments on the article, there was a healthcare worker who disagreed with the advice, so you will have to make up your own mind. You can read the entire article here.
1. Eating breakfast every day.
Though studies have found that breakfast eaters are less prone to obesity and other health problems, research also shows that if you eat breakfast, you're more likely to engage in other healthy behaviors, such as exercising and getting plenty of sleep -- and experts aren't sure which of these habits is really keeping you trim.
2. Doing a monthly breast self-exam.
Several clinical trials have shown that women who perform BSEs are no more likely to survive breast cancer if they find a lump than those who do not perform them. "If your lump is big enough that you can feel it, your cancer is already more advanced than if it had been found earlier by mammography, which reduces your chances of survival," says Russell.
You should, however, start scheduling an annual mammogram at age 40.
3. Popping a daily multivitamin.
If you already have a healthy diet, pat yourself on the back and save your money by skipping multivitamins. There's no evidence to show that they help (or hurt) us, according to the National Institutes of Health.
4. Staying indoors when it's cold outside.
Going out in the cold won't actually give you a cold -- unless you're camping out in a blizzard for days at a time. (Ditto for going outside with wet hair.) "This is an old wives' tale that probably originated because we do tend to get more colds during the winter months," says Katz.
5. Never eating after 7 p.m.
We've all got that friend who shed pounds just by cutting out her after-dinner snacking and now swears by the 7 p.m. rule. The real secret to your friend's weight loss was ditching the pint of ice cream she used to dive into on top of a full day's worth of calories.
ER Charges Women Who Never Saw Doctor
A woman says she waited 19 hours at Parkland Memorial Hospital's emergency department for treatment of a broken leg and never did get to see a doctor — but still got a bill for $162. Amber Joy Milbrodt, who said she broke a bone in her leg while playing volleyball, received the bill two weeks after her Sept. 24 visit.
Parkland officials said the bill was appropriate because a nurse spent time checking her vital signs to assess her level of need.
The assessment by the nurse, which lasted a few minutes, established her place in line that night. By that time, Milbrodt said, she had already been waiting about 3 1/2 hours.
She still had not been called more than 15 hours later, so she gave up and went home. She an X-ray taken at a chiropractic school where she is a student had already confirmed that she had a fracture.
Milbrodt, 29, who has no insurance, said she does not plan to pay. After leaving the ER, she rested at home for a few days and then put her leg in a brace, which she still wears. It seems to be healing, she said.
Fort Worth's large public hospital, John Peter Smith, shares Parkland's policy of charging for a triage assessment. But other hospitals in Dallas, such as Baylor University Medical Center, don't charge if the person never sees a doctor.

The winner of our Nearly Impossible Trivia Contest, which is usually pretty easy, was Sue.
She knew that Cinnabon was featured in the movie Love Guru.
Sue picked up a 6-cup porcelain teapot and a package of Pillsbury Grands frozen cinnamon rolls.
