Thursday we broadcasted the entire morning show from Big Island as part of our Summer Tour 2007. It was an interesting morning with new equipment, new location, and a lot of fun.
Al's Country Market, the corner of SR 309 and SR 203, was the site for our broadcast. We have to thank owner Ryan Cook for coming in early to open up for us. His 15-year-employee Tammi was a big help as well.
If you listened, you know that Al's is the meeting spot for the area, with a lot of people stopping by to grab snacks, coffee, and shoot the breeze before getting on with their day.
We managed to get a couple of the regulars to talk, but surprisingly, most didn't want anything to do with the radio station. They preferred to share most of their stories off the air.
Brian Jester, station engineer and host of Local Mic on Wednesdays, helped us out this morning by keep us on the air back at the studio. The show was amazingly smooth this morning with Brian's help.
The Map Pictured Above
I noticed today that the map above, which I used the other day as well, is wrong...way wrong. I can't remember where I stole it from, but apparently that website isn't clear where Big Island is.
Of course, Big Island really isn't a town, it's a township. But those of us from Marion all know where Big Island is.
Weather Kid
Today's Weather Kid from Epworth Preschool & Daycare was Mikayla Hoppel. Brian took care of her and both did a great job.

Coming Up
On Friday we wrap up Big Island/Espyville week on WDCM. We have no guests scheduled, but you never know who'll stop by. Plus, you can always call and tell us a story or get something off your chest. After all, it is your radio station.
